 Getting to The Cervantes
By Taxi: Taxis from
the airport, convention center or cruise ship terminals
are controlled by the Puerto Rico Tourism Company. Look
for their representatives who all speak English and they
will give you a receipt with a flat fee depending on the
area of San Juan you are going. There is an
additional charge for each piece of luggage and a
surcharge for trips at night. The price from the airport
should be approximately $20 - slightly less from the
convention center. Cruise ships may be less than
this depending on which pier your ship uses. Tell your
taxi driver that The Cervantes is on RECINTO SUR -
across from the parking garage.
Driving Instructions:
All rental car agencies at the San Juan airport are 'off
premises' and you have to take a shuttle bus to their
satellite office. They will help point you in the right
direction toward Old San Juan. Follow the highway until
you reach the lagoon and continue past the Capitol Buildings. You will see the old
fort on your right as you enter Old San Juan. Take a
left at the main plaza and continue straight and swing
around Teatro Colon. You will see the parking garage to
your left (look for Banco Santender). Parking is
available in this garage, so go up the ramp and take a
ticket before you find a parking space (you will pay at
the cashier's window on the main floor when you are
ready to leave the garage. The Cervantes is right across the street from the
garage.
From Cruise Ship Piers:
There are several different cruise ship piers in San
Juan. Some of the piers are just a few blocks from The
Cervantes.
Other piers are located about a mile away near the new
Puerto Rico Convention Center (Pan American Pier) and
you will need to take a taxi to Old San Juan. Check with
your cruise ship to see which pier they will use while
in San Juan and if they have made arrangements for a
shuttle bus or transfer service into the old city.
